Our History

In 1949, a group of dedicated Christians began meeting in the New Hope School House for Sunday School and Worship services under the leadership of Rev. B.B. Boaz. Less than a year later on March 12, 1950, New Hope Baptist Church was organized with seventeen charter members. Established to serve a part of the southern area of Trigg County, the organizers shared a love for God and fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.

Several years later in May of 1974, New Hope Baptist Church organized a mission in East Cadiz under the leadership of Rev. O.D. Boyd. This mission would later become organized and known as East Cadiz Baptist Church on June 2, 1974. At the time, seventeen members from New Hope went there to help carry out the great commission of the Lord and He continues to bless ECBC to this day.

As the years passed, New Hope grew and expanded the building by adding much needed Sunday School rooms. Assistance was given by our members, volunteers, and a group of dedicated Christians from Duncan, South Carolina. Later in 2006, New Hope built and dedicated its present church sanctuary through the hard work and prayer of our members, church trustees, and then pastor, Bro. Gary Snyder. As we continue to grow, we hope that you will become a vital part of our history that is yet to come.

                    New Hope currently has 3 ordained deacons, with one of those recently called as Pastor for Bethany Baptist Church, Bro. Jeremiah Swaw. Those men are Bro. Ronnie Clark, Bro. Greg Taylor, Bro. Ken Allen. The deacons of New Hope are first called as servants to the congregation of the church. We have a Deacon Family Ministry to allow them to help the pastor shepherd the flock the Lord has given us.

            The church currently has 1 Sunday morning worship service, at 10:00am. Sunday School happens at 9am with classes for all ages and a wide variety of settings any person can choose from. Sunday School is one of the most important growth aspects for the people of New Hope as it provides a time for the church of Christ to come together to fellowship and to be able to grow more in depth with each other and God. There are also Sunday night and Wednesday night meetings to allow further opportunities for corporate worship at the church with fellow believers. There are many areas within which one can serve at New Hope whether working with children, youth, men, or women’s groups.
